Well where do I even begin haha!
I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and boy, oh boy, did I love it. I was born and raised there! Being from a small suburb only 25 minutes from the city and attending high school downtown was incredible. The city views are to die for.
Then, I went to college in Lynchburg, Virginia. It almost seemed like the middle of nowhere. It was mostly rough, but the hiking and outdoors were incredible.
After college, I told everyone I would never return to PA. Only because I wanted to branch out and see the world independently. Never in a million years did I think I’d end up in KANSAS!!
Now, I am in Kansas, and it’s a love-hate relationship. *For those who have never been to Kansas: NO, it’s not like the Wizard of Oz. There are farms and land like that, but it’s not all like that stereotype. It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen, especially the storms and tornadoes.
It’s very different from my love of the big city, but I am learning a lot.
As for my job, moving to Kansas was the best thing I could have done for my career as a reporter/news anchor. The experience I am getting is fantastic. The industry is challenging and not for everyone, but I love it.
It seems like there isn’t a lot to do, but you just have to find what you love to do. Living in Kansas has been good because I am getting a whole other experience of the United States that I never thought I’d get.
I think it’s cool to say I am 22 years old and have lived in 3 different states. Maybe that’s just me, but moving away from family is hard enough, so it makes me feel like a strong, independent woman. It truly is encouraging.
Note to my readers: If you are on the fence about moving somewhere out of your comfort zone, DO IT! You only live once, and you will learn so much about yourself. Your younger self would be so proud of you – because I know my younger self is cheering me on!
~From me to you~
