Victoria is the Latin word for ‘victory.’
As for how I was named Victoria…
I’d like to believe my name came from Queen Victoria – at least what I tell myself.
However, that’s not the case. My parents have a couple names picked out.
If I were a boy, my name would be Nicholas; if I were a girl, my name would be Kaylee, Carly, or Alyssa. Once they figured out I was a girl, they were going toward Kaylee, but my aunt had my cousin and named her Kaitlyn, so they moved to Alyssa.
However, whenever I ask my mom, I get the same answer.
She says, “We never even talked about naming you Victoria. After a long time in labor and holding you, I said your name was Victoria. Your dad never fought me on it and just said okay.” She doesn’t even know where Victoria came from; it’s exactly what she knew should be my name.
I wish I had some extraordinary story about my name, but it’s pretty straightforward.
